Describe the difference between pure substances (elements and compounds) and mix

| Pure substance: | a sample of matter, either a single element or a single compound that has definite chemical and physical properties. |
| Compound: | a substance made up of atoms of two or more different elements joined by chemical bonds. |
| Molecule: | the smallest unit of a substance that keeps all of the physical & chemical properties of that substance. |
| Chemical Formula: | a combination of chemical symbols and numbers to represent a substance. |
| Subscript: | a small number written to the right and slightly below chemical symbol to tell the number of atoms of that element in the substance. |
| Mixture: | a combination of two or more substance that are not chemically combined. |
