TermDefinition
Globe A spherical model of the earth.
Map Shows the earth or parts of it on a flat surface.
Meteorology Studies the earth's atmosphere; monitors, studies, and forecasts the weather.
Geologist Studies the history and structure of the earth as it is recorded in rocks.
Seismologist Studies and monitors earthquake activity.
Volcanologist Studies and monitors volcanic activity.
Vortex A mass of swirling liquid of air.
Huricane Created when warm air rises over tropical areas. (Atlantic ocean and eastern Pacific ocean)
Tornado Created when moist air meets cold, dry air head on. Most commonly formed in between The Rocky mountains and the Mississippi river, in the United states.
Eye The center of a vortex where weather is mostly calm.
Funnel Cloud A rotating funnel shaped cloud forming the core of a vortex.
Cyclone A rotating tropical storm moving clockwise in the southern hemisphere and counterclockwise in the northern hemisphere. (Indian ocean or off the coast of Australia)
Typhoon A topical in the Indian or western Pacific ocean.
