TermDefinition
Weight The force of gravity on an object
Mass The amount of matter in an object
Matter It is whatever has mass and takes up space
Volume It is the amount of space a object occupies
Density Measure of mass in a given volume mass/volume
Atom The main particle that all elements are made of
Molecule A set of 2 atoms held together by a chemical bond
Physical Change It may look different but it is still the same substance
Physical properties A substance that is observed but not changed into a new substance
Chemical properties A substance that can change into another substance
Chemical Change It turns into a new substance or substances
law of conservation of mass/matter Matter/mass is never created or destroyed in a chemical or physical change
Thermal energy The total energy of motion of all particles in a object
Chemical energy The energy stored in the chemical bonds between atoms
