Earth's Spheres

TermDefinition
Earth Science The system consists land, oceans, atmosphere and poles.
Atmosphere A mixture of gases that surrounds a planet, moon, or other celestial body.
Geospheres The mostly solid, rocky part of earth; extends from the center of the care to the center of the crust
Hydrosphere The portion of the earth that is water.
Cryosphere One of earth's spheres where water is in solid form, including snow cover, floating ice, glaciers, ice caps,ice sheets, frozen ground permafrost.
Biosphere The part of the earth where life exists; includes all of the living organisms on earth.
Lithosphere The solid, outer layer of earth that consists of the crust and the rigid upper part of the mantle.
