| ecology | The study of living organism's with one another and there environment. |
| Abiotic factor | environmental factor that is not associated with the activities with live organism's. |
| species | a group of organism's that are closely related and can mate to produce fertile offspring. |
| ecosystem | a community of organism's and their abiotic, or non living, environment. |
| niche | the role of species in it's community,including use of habitat and its relationships with other species. |
| biotic factor | an environment factor that is associated with or results from the activities of living organism's. |
| population | a group of organism's of the same species that live in a specific geographical area. |
| community | all of the populations of species that live in the same habitat and interact with each other. |
| habitat | the place where an organism usually lives. |
| biome | a large region characterized by a specific type of climate and certain types of plant and animal communities. |
| producer | an organism that can make it's own food by using energy from it's surroundings. |
| omnivore | an organism that eats both plants and animals. |
| carnivore | an organism that eats animals. |
| food chain | the pathway of energy transfer through various stages of the feeding patterns of a series of organism's. |
| herbivore | an organism that eats only plants. |
| consumer | an organism that eats other organic matter. |
| decomposer | an organism the gets energy by breaking down the remains of dead organism's or animal wastes and consuming or absorbing the nutrients. |
| food web | a diagram that show the feeding relationships between organism's and ecosystem. |
