Weather Patterns
| Term | Definition |

| Cold Front | When a rapidly moving cold air mass overtakes a slow moving warm air mass. |
| Warm Front | When a warm air mass overtakes a cold air mass. |
| Stationary Front | When a warm air mass and a cold air mass meet and neither can move the other. |
| Occluded Front | Where a warm air mass is caught between two cooler air masses. |
| Storm | A violent disturbance in the atmosphere. |
| Tornado | A funnel shaped cloud that touches Earth's surface. |
| Hurricane | A long-lasting storm that starts over the warm surface of the ocean and has winds of 119 km or higher. |
| Flash Floods | Sudden, violent floods that occur shortly after a storm. |
| Meteorologist | A scientist that studies weather and tries to predict it. |
| Isotherms | Lines on a map joining places with the same temperature. |
| Isobars | Lines on a map joining places that have the same air pressure. |
| Front | The boundary where unlike air masses meet but do not easily mix. |
