peninsula Piece of land mostly surrounded by water
islands Piece of land completely surrounded by water
mountains A large, steep hill
canyons A deep, narrow valley, usually with a river and steep sides
plateaus A flat highland
mesas An area with a flat top, slightly elevated, smaller than a plateau
harbors Part of a body of water where ships can anchor
gulfs Deep inlet of the sea
rivers Body of water flowing into an ocean
deserts Very dry land, with few plants
forests Area of thick vegetation
valleys Low area of land between hills or mountains
plains Large area of flat land with few trees
