Organic Chemistry
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Photo Synthesis | CO2+H2O > C6H12O6+O2 |
| Dehydration Synthesis | Makes a polypeptide. Combining to glucose and fructose to get sucrose is one example. |
| Carbs | All carbs have a 2:1 ratio, they only have carbon, hydrogen and oxygen and they're always in a ring shape. Carbs are energy. |
| Monosaccharide | Monosaccharides are the most basic units of carbs. Glucose is a monosaccharide, so is fructose, sucrose is not. |
| Polysaccharide | Multiple monosaccharides in a chain. Made by dehydration synthesis. |
| Starch | Plants starch |
| Cellulide | Plants cells |
| Glycogen | Animal storage in liver |
| Digestion and Hydrolisis | Same thing, reverse of dehydration synthesis, big to small. |
| Lipids | Long term energy. Three fatty acids and one glycerol make a lipid. |
| Carboxyl Group | O / C \ OH |
| Isomers | Same chemical formula but different structure (Glucose and Fructose) |
| Proteins | Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen. Made up of 20 amino acids |
| R-Strand | Can be any of the amino acids |
| Aminic Group | H | H-N |
| Peptide Bond | The arrow thing where it transforms |
