Landforms

Vocabulary for the Landform Unit

TermDefinition
Mountain An area of land that rises very high above the land around it and that is higher than a hil
Valley An area of low land between hills or mountains
Lake A body of (usually fresh) water surrounded by land
Plain A large area of flat land without trees
Plateau A large flat area of land that is raised above the land around it
Gulf A large area of ocean that is partly surrounded by land
