Scientific method

TermDefinition
Empirical Evidence The observations, measurements, and other types of data that people
Theory a well-supported explanation of nature
Law A theory that has been proven over and over again
Investigation the same as doing an experiment
Observation The process of obtaining information by using the senses
Hypothesis -Is a testable idea or explanation that leads to scientific investigation.
Independent variable (test variable) The factor that is deliberately being manipulated in the experiment.
Dependent variable (outcome variable) The factor that changes as a result of the manipulation of one or more variables.
Replication Means to repeat the experiment, the same way every time, by a different person.
Repetition Means to repeat the experiment, but not the same way, by the same person.
