Science Method

TermDefinition
The observations, measurements, and other types of data that people gather and test to support and evaluate scientific explanations. Empirical Evidence

A theory that has been proven over and over again. Law
the same as doing an experiment Investigation
The process of obtaining information by using the senses. Observation
Is a testable idea or explanation that leads to scientific investigation. Hypothesis
The factor that is deliberately being manipulated in the experiment. Independent variable (test variable)
The factor that changes as a result of the manipulation of one or more variables. Dependent variable
Means to repeat the experiment, the same way every time, by a different person. Replication
Means to repeat the experiment, but not the same way, by the same person. Repetition
