scientific method

| Empirical Evidence | Empirical Evidence-The observations, measurements, and other types of data that people gather and test to support and evaluate scientific explanations. |
| Theory | Theory- a well-supported explanation of nature. |
| law | Empirical Evidence-A theory that has been proven over and over again. |
| Investigation | Investigation- the same as doing an experiment |
| Observation | Observation-The process of obtaining information by using the senses. |
| Hypothesis | Hypothesis-Is a testable idea or explanation that leads to scientific investigation. |
| Independent variable | Independent variable (test variable)-The factor that is deliberately being manipulated in the experiment. |
| Dependent variable | Dependent variable (outcome variable)-The factor that changes as a result of the manipulation of one or more variables. |
| Replication | Replication-Means to repeat the experiment, the same way every time, by a different person. |
| Repetition | Repetition-Means to repeat the experiment, but not the same way, by the same person. |
