Scientific method
Term | Definition |

Empirical Evidence | The observations, measurements, and other types of data that people gather and test to support and evaluate scientific explanations. |
Theory | a well-supported explanation of nature. |
Law | A theory that has been proven over and over again |
investigation | the same as doing an experiment |
Observation | The process of obtaining information by using the senses. |
Hypothesis | Is a testable idea or explanation that leads to scientific investigation. |
Dependent variable (outcome variable) | The factor that changes as a result of the manipulation of one or more variables. |
Independent variable (test variable) | The factor that is deliberately being manipulated in the experiment. |
Replication | Means to repeat the experiment, the same way every time, by a different person. |
