| Biotic | all of the organism that live together and interact with one another make up the biotic part of environment |
| Abiotic | part of the environment consist of the nonliving factors,such as water,soil,light,and temperatures |
| 5 levels of environmental organization | organism,population,community,Ecosystem,and Biosphere |
| Organism | a living thing that can carryout life process indefinitely |
| population | Each animal is a part of a population or a group of individuals of the same species that live together |
| community | all the populations of species that live in the same habitat and interact with each other |
| Ecosystem | a community of organisms and their abotic environment. |
| biosphere | the part of earth where life exist. |
| producer/Autotroph | Plants use the energy in sunlight to make food |
| consumer/hetrotroph | The black tailed prairie dogs in a colony watch for enemy's,such as coyotes[carnivores;hawks and badgers |
| Herbivores | an organism that eats only plants |
| carnivores | An organism that eats animals |
| omnivores | an organism that eats both plants and animals |
| scavenger | eat dead meat |
| decomposer | organism that get energy by breaking down dead organism are called decomposer |
| food web | a diagram that shows the feeding relationship between organism in an ecosystem. |
| Food chain | the pathway of energy transfer through various stages as a result of the feeding patterns of a series organism. |
| energy pyramaid | an energy pyramid is a diagram that shows an ecosystems |
| limiting factor | A resource that is so scarce that it limits the size of a population is called a limiting factor. |
| carrying capacity | The largest population than environment can support is known as the carrying capacity |
| predator | an organism that is killed and eaten by another organism |
| prey | an organism that kills and eats all or part of another organism |
| predator adaptions | predators have wide variety of methods and abilities for doing so |
| prey adaption | warning coloration |
| symbiosis | is a close,long term association between two or more species |
| mutualism | a symbiotic relationship in which both organism benefit is called mutalism |
| commensalism | a symbiotic relationship in which one organism benefits is called commensalism |
| parasitism | a symbiotic association in which one organism benefits while the others is called parasitism |
