Chapter 1 vocabulary

Hypothesis An educated guess to answer a question
Observation Something you find out about objects, events, or living things.
Experiment The use of scientific methods to testa hypothesis
Variable Something that can change in a test
Control group A standard against which change is measured
Procedures Step by step instructions for completing a task
Indirect variable The thing you change in an experiment
Direct variable The thing you are observing in the experiment
Controlled variable The thing that stays the same in an experiment
Model Something used to represent something else
Survey Questionaries that are given to people to see the opinions of them
Sampling L A small part of something
