Animal Growth and Adaptation

prey an animal that is hunted and eaten by another animal
predator an animal that hunts and eats another animal
hibernation a period when an animal goes into a long, deep "sleep"; its body functions slow down, and the animal uses less energy
body covering the material on the outside of a plant or animal that helps protect the organism
organism another word for living thing
reproduction to make more offspring
life cycle a pattern of changes that happen during an organism's life
habitat consists of food, water, shelter, and space in a suitable arrangement
extinction the complete elimination of a species from the Earth
