| Toxicants | substance dissolved in water that produces a harmful effect on organisms, either by an immediate large dose or by small doses over a period of time. |
| Plastic trash | ocean trash comprised of plastic thrown into the ocean |
| Biological invaders | alien species not native to a particular environment |
| Overfishing and incidental catch | the act of removing adult fish faster than the population of that fish can accommodate, resulting in reduction of the total population |
