What does the Biosphere consist of? Region of the Earth where all organisms exists.
What does the Hydrosphere consist of? Consists of all salt & fresh water.
What does the Lithosphere consist of? Earth's crust made up of tectonic plates.
What does the Atmosphere consist of? The gases that make up the air above the Earth.
What is evaporation? When water liquid turns into vapour.
What is condensation? When water vapour turns into a liquid.
What is the term that describes when water falls to the ground? Precipitation
What is the term that describes when water on land leaks/falls into bodies of water? Run off
In the Carbon Cycle, what does CO2 dissolve in? The Ocean
What process converts CO2 + H2O using light into glucose (sugar) + O2? Photosynthesis
What is the process called when organisms use sugar and oxygen to produce energy, CO2 & H2O? Respiration
In what form of nitrogen do plants consume it? Nitrates
What is nitrogen fixation? A process of converting N2 into nitrates (NO3-)
What type of bacteria converts N2 into NO3- found in the roots of certain plants? Nitrogen Fixing Bacteria
What causes nitrogen in the atmosphere to react with oxygen to form nitrates? Lightening
How does nitrates formed in the atmosphere get into the soil so plants can absorb them? Nitrates formed by lightening falls to the ground in precipitation.
