| Gemstones | Valuable, rare minerals/valued for color and beauty Some examples include opals, diamonds, garnets, rubies |
| Non-Metallic Luster | Type of luster which is dull, waxy, and pearly |
| Hardness | Measure of how easily a mineral can be scratched |
| Cleavage | Property of some minerals in which the mineral breaks apart along a flat surface |
| Luster | Way the surface of a mineral reflects light |
| Streak | Colored mark some minerals leave behind on a rough surface |
| Metallic Luster | Type of luster which is shiny |
| Mineral | Solid compound that occurs naturally in Earth's crust and has a definite chemical composition and structure |
| Talc | The mineral that would earn a 1 for being the softest mineral on Moh's Scale |
| Diamond | The mineral that would earn a 10 for being the hardest mineral on Moh's Scale |
