atmosphere the gaseous envelope surrounding the earth; the air.
troposphere the lowest layer of the atmosphere
stratosphere all of the earths atmosphere lying outside the troposphere.
mesosphere above the surface of the earth
ionosphere the region of the earth's atmosphere between the stratosphere and the exosphere,
thermosphere the region of the upper atmosphere in which temperature increases continuously with altitude
exosphere the highest region of the atmosphere, where the air density is so low that a fast-moving air
