Plant Parts

Names and functions of the flowering plant parts

termfunctions
petals attract the pollinators with their scent and bright colors
anther contains pollen; male reproductive part
filament holds the anther; male reproductive part
stamen male parts: anther and filament
Stigma receives the pollen; female part
style tube that connects stigma and ovary
ovule reproductive cell which will become the seed when fertilized by pollen
pistil female parts: stigma, style, ovary and ovule
calyx all the sepals
sepals special leaves the cover the buds (baby blanket)
peduncle stem
leaves capture the sun's energy (light)and makes food( photosynthesis)
