What did Robert Hooke do? What did Anton Von Leeuwenhoek do during Hooke's time? Robert Hooke used an early compound microscope to look at a slice of cork. It was a plant material. He saw little "empty chambers" and called them cells. Anton Von Leeuwenhoek looked at pond water and saw billions of organisms using a single lens mic
Define Transmission electron microscopes. Can see into small structures and protein molecules.
Define Scanning electron microscopes. Produces 3D images of cells.
What are the three main parts of the cell theory? 1) All living things are composed of cells. 2) Cells are the basic units of structure and function in living things. 3) New cells are produced from existing cells.
What are 2 characteristics cells have in common with each other? 1) They are surrounded by a barrier called a cell membrane. 2) At some point in their lives they contain the molecule that carries biological information-- DNA.
