science an organized way of studying things and finding answers to questions
Earth science study of Earth and space
engineering the practical application of science and math to solve problems
technology the use of scientific knowledge for practical use
critical thinking comparing what you already know with the information you are given in order to decide whether you agree with the new information
ethics deals with morals and values
bias a personal opinion that may influence scientific observation
skepticism to doubt the truthfulness or accuracy of something
mass the amount of matter in an object (measured in grams or kilograms)
volume the amount of space on object takes up (measured in milliliters, liters or cm3)
density the amount of mass in a material per unit of volume (measured in g/ml or g/cm3)
constant factors that do not change in an experiment
variable factors that change in an experiment
hypothesis an educated guess that can be tested
reproducible describes an experiment that produces similar results each time
outlier a result that is so far from average that it's validity is in question
inference a logical explanation of an observation that is based on prior knowledge or experience
scientific law rule that describes a pattern in nature
scientific theory an explanation of observations or events that is based on knowledge gained from many observations and investigations
