Question | Answer |
---|---|
Weather | The conditions of the atmosphere at any given time or place. |
Meteorologist | A person who studies weather. |
Weather map | Where weather conditions can be charted and used as information to produce a weather forecast. |
Weather forecast | Prediction of weather conditions at some future time for some given reason. |
Humidity | The amount of moisture found in the air and any one time or place. |
What are some sources of information that help forecast the weather? | Observers, instruments carried by balloons, satellites, maps, charts, and computers. |
What are some factors that determine the weather factors. | Air temperature, air pressure, humidity of the air, amount and kind of cloud cover, amount of precipitation, and speed and direction of the wind. |
What are the requirements of a line graph? | Always has a title, two different axis, intervals always equal, label on each axis to describe information. |
How do meteorologists use standards to measure? | Measuring wind speed from 10 meters off the ground, and taking the temperature at the same time of day. |
How does solar energy effect weather? | The driving force behind all weather changes, darker and rougher surfaces absorb more heat, more gases in the atmosphere, the more solar energy that is absorbed heating up the air. |
How does air pressure effect the weather? | Air pressure is low as warm air rises. |
How do clouds effect the weather? | It decreases the amount of heat in the atmosphere by shading out the suns solar energy as well as providing all types of precipitation. |
What would you expect on high pressure days? | Clear and sunny skies. |
What would you expect of low air pressure days? | Cloudy skies with a higher chance of precipitation. |
When do you use a line graph? | To show change over time. |
