electromagnetic waves is a form of energy that can move through the vacuum of space
radiation is the direct transfer of energy by electromagnetic waves
Ultraviolent radiation is one form of electromagnetic energy infrared radiation has wave lenghts that are longer the red lights infrared.
what is the freezing and boiling point foe Celsius freezing point is 0 degrees Celsius boiling point is 100 degrees Celsius
conduction is the direct tranfer of heat from one substance to another substanc's surface and are bands of high speed winds called jet streams e that it is touching
convection is the transfer of heat by the movement of a fluid most heat in the trosophere is transformed by convection. the cool air sinks as the warm air rises
how is wind caused winds are caused by differences in the air pressure
what is an anemomentor has 3 or 4 cups mounted at the end o a spokes that spins on an axle and shows the winds speed
what causes local winds local winds are caused by the unequal heating of Earth's surface
Coriolis effect the way Earth's rotation makes winds curves Wind in the Northern Hemisphere curves to the RIGHT or CLOCKWISE
what are jet streams jet streams are about 10 kilometers above Earh surface and are bands of high speeds wind
water cycle is the movement of water between the atmosphere and earth's surface
evaporation is the process by which water molecules in liquid water escape into the air as water vapor
humidity is the measure of the amount of water vapor in the air
how do clouds form clouds form when water vapor in the air condenses to form liquid water or ice crystals
2 condition required clouds to form 1.)the cooling of air 2.)the presence of particles in the air
cirrus clouds are clouds that look feathery and only form at high levels above 6 kilometers
cummulus clouds that look fluffy, rounded piles of coton. cumulus clouds for less than 2 kilometer over the ground andgo as high as 18 kilometers
Fog is clouds that form near the groud
what is rain Rain is the most common form of precipitation. drops of water are called rain if they are at least 0.5 milimeters in adiameter
how does sleet form sometimes rain falls through a layer of air that that is below 0 degress c the freezing point of water. Ice particle that are smaller then .5 milometers is called sleet
what is hail hail is rounded ppellets of ice larger then milimeters and is called chain hail. Hail forms only inside comulcnimbus clods
