| abiotic | nonliving |
| ecosystem | all the living and non living things in a area and there interactions |
| habitat | a place that provides all the things an orginism needs to live |
| population | a group of orginisms of one species that live in a area at one time |
| community | a community may have populations of oak trees maple trees and pine trees |
| niche | the role an orginism has to play in an ecosystem |
| carrying capasity | the number of orginisms that can live in an area |
| predator | the one that hunts and eats the animals or prey |
| prey | prey is the one that gets eaten |
| producers | someone or something that makes there own energy |
| consumers | cant make there own food or energy so they get it from eating other consumers or producers |
| herbivores | only eat plants |
| carnivores | eat other animals |
| omnivores | eat plants or other animals |
| scavengers | eat other dead animals |
| decomposers | get energy by breaking down waste or dead orginisms |
| Food Chain | a series of steps showing how energy moves from biotic factor to another. |
| Food Web | a diagram of many different food chains |
| Symbiosis | a long-term relationship between two different organisms. |
| Parasites | live inside or outside another organism taking nutrients from that organism |
