| Ecosystem | Is all of the living and nonliving things in an area and their interactions. |
| Biotic | Means living |
| Abiotic | Means nonliving |
| Habitat | Is a place that provides all the things an organism needs to live |
| Population | is a group of organisms of one species that live in an area at the same time |
| Community | Different populations in an area make up a community |
| Niche | is the role that an organism has in an ecosystem |
| Carrying capacity | The number of organisms that can live in a habitat |
| Parasites | live inside or outside an organism taking nutrients from that organism |
| Symbiosis | is a long term relationship between two organisms |
| food web | is a diagram of many things |
| Food chain | is a series of steps showing how energy moves from one biotic factor another |
| Decomposer | they get their energy from breaking down wastes and dead organisms |
| Consumers | can’t make their own food and get energy from other producers of consumers |
| Predator | the one that hunts and eats other animals |
| Prey | the one that gets hunted and eaten |
| Producers | make their own food for energy |
| Herbivores | Eat only plants |
| Carnivores | Eat other animals |
| Omnivores | Eat plants and animals |
| Scavengers | Eats dead animals |
