wave a disturbance that moves through matter or space
transverse wave causes particles in matter to move back and forth at right angles
compressional wave causes particles to move back and forth along the same direction
wavelength the distance between one point on the wave and the same point moving in the same speed
frequency the number of wavelengths that pass by a point each second
law of reflection when waves reflect off surface
rarefaction the change in direction of a wave when it changes speed as it travels one material to an other
diffraction the bending around the waves around an object
opaque not abel to see through; solid
translucent allows some light to pass though
transparent clear; allows light to pass through
reflect to throw back the light or bounce off
absorb to take the light in or suck the light up

loudness it is the magnitude of sound
pitch the quality of a sound governed by the rate of vibrations producing it
