Waves

TermDefinition
Wave Is a disturbance that moves through matter or space.
Transverse It cause particles in matter to move back and forth at right angles.
Compressional Causes particles in matter to move back and forth along the same direction in which wave travels.
Wavelength The distance between one point on a wave and the nearest point moving with the same speed and direction.
Law of Reflection The angles that the incoming wave makes with the normal equals the angles that the outgoing wave makes with the normal
Refraction Change in a direction of a wave.
Diffraction Bending of waves around an object.
Frequency The wave is the number of wavelengths that pass by a point each second.
Opaque Materials allows no light through.
Translucent Material that absorbs light.
transparent Material allows nearly all light to pass through.
Reflect A light hitting an object and bouncing off.
Absorb Take in or soak up.
Transmit cause something to pass through something.
