Weight, Mass, Volume, Density

QuestionAnswer
What is density? Density is Mass/Volume. It relates the mass of an object to its volume.
What is matter? Matter is anything that has mass and takes up space.
What is a physical property of matter? Physical Property is how matter looks, feels, smells, sounds and tastes.
What is a chemical property of matter? Chemical property tells how matter can change into new kinds of matter.
What is an element? An element is a kind of matter that cannot be broken down into any other kind of substance.
What is an atom? An atom is the smallest part of an element. Each element is made up of only one kind of atom.
What is a chemical bond? Atoms that join together forms a chemical bond. It is also a pulling force that holds atoms together.
What are compounds? Compounds are made up of the atoms of two or more elements joined together.
What is a mixture? A mixture is made up of two or more compounds or elements that are together in the same place.
What is a solution? A solution is one kind of mixture. In a solution, the parts are very evenly mixed together.
What is weight? Weight measures the pull of gravity on an object. Weight changes in different places- dependent on the gravitational pull.
What is mass? Mass is the amount of matter in an object. The amount of matter in an object does not change in different places.
How do you measure volume? You do Length x Width x Height
What are the three states that matter can be found in? Solids, Liquids, Gas
What unit of measure is normally used to measure mass? Grams
What is the curved water line inside a graduated cylinder called? Meniscus
What is the volume of a piece that has the following dimensions: Length- 5cm Width- 10cm Height- 4cm 200cm^3
What is the density of something that has a mass of 600g and volume of 200cm^3? 3 g
What is 500cm x 2cm x 5cm 5000cm^3
What is 200cm x 7cm x 4cm 5600cm^3
