Science Study Guide Biological Classifications

What are kingdoms? Scientist divide all living things into groups.
Name all of the kingdoms. Fungi, plant, animal, protist, archaea, bacteria
How many kingdoms are there? Six
What can you find in the fungi kingdom? Mushrooms, yeast, and mold
What kingdoms are mostly microscopic organisms? Protist, archaea, and bacteria
Describe bacteria Simplest kind of life, one cell with one nucleus, and are producers, decomposes, and parasites
How can bacteria be helpful? Breakdown dead organisms, breakdown waste, clean up oil spills, and convert nitrogen
How can bacteria be harmful? Causes disease in humans, plants, and animals
Describe protists Cells with nucleus, most diverse, can be fungus like, plant like, or animal like.
What is the picture on the review sheet? How do you know? It is a protist because it is a single celled with a nucleus.
Is the picture on the review sheet more animal like or plant like? How do you know? Animal like because it has cilia to help it move and eat.
