| What color are producers? | green |
| Producers captures light energy from where? | from the sun and transforms it into food |
| consumers | use the food that producers make or they eat other organisms |
| 1st level consumers eats? | plants |
| 2nd level consumers eats? | other consumers |
| 3rd level consumers eats? | eat 2nd level consumers |
| food chain | the steps in which organisms get the food to survive. |
| food web | shows how food chains related within an ecosystem. |
| organism | a living thing. |
| What can cause changes to an ecosystem? | drought, overpopulation, pollution |
| drought | a long period of no precipitation. |
| overpopulation | when a ecosystem has too many of at least one kind of living thing. |
| pollution | when harmful substances are added to the earth's water, air, or land. |
| acid rain | when acids from burning gasoline, coal, and other fuels pollute the air when it mixes with rain |
| carnaivore | eats animal |
| herbivore | eats only plants |
| omnivore | eats both plants and animals |
| camouflage | blending of colors |
| adaptation | traits that help an animal to survive |
| mimicry | when one organism imitates another |
| inherited behavior | a behavior that is inborn |
| Example of inherited behavior | a reflex such as scratching an itch |
| learned behavior | behavior that is learned through experiences |
| hereditary | passing of traits from parent to child |
| smog | waste gases and smoke from cars, homes and factories. |
