| Matter | Anything that has mass and takes up space. |
| Density | A measure of the amount of mass in a given volume. |
| Law of Conservation of Mass | A law that states that in ordinary chemical and physical changes, mass is not created or destroyed, but is only transformed into different substances. |
| Atom | The smallest unit of an element that maintains the property of that element. |
| Element | A "building block" that is made up of one or more of the same kind of atom combined(Oxygen is an example). |
| Compound | An atom that's made out of different types of atoms |
| Mixture | A variety of elements and compounds that are not chemically bound |
| Pure Substance | A substance that has definite physical and chemical properties |

| Chemical Change | When one or more substances change into entirely new substances with different properties |
