| nonvascular plant | a simple plant that lacks true leaves, stems, and roots |
| phloem | specialized tissue within roots, stems, and leaves that moves materials downward |
| photosynthesis | the process by which plants use light energy to convert water, minerals and carbon dioxide into sugars and oxygen |
