What is the difference between a striated muscle and a muscle that isn't striated? A striated muscle has cells that are aligned so it looks "striped". A muscle that isn't striated doesn't look "striped".
If a muscle contracts it gets shorter. What happens when a muscle is relaxed? The muscle is longer and it isn't using as much energy as when it's contracted/tightened.
What does a tendon do? A tendon holds muscles to bones so that our muscles can move our skeleton.
Is the cardiac muscle striated? Yes
Which muscle types are involuntary? Cardiac and Smooth
Which muscle type controls the movement of our skeleton? Skeletal muscles
This type of muscle contracts and relaxes to push blood to and from the heart. Cardiac muscle
This muscle is found in the stomach, intestines, and bladder. It allows us to hold/release our bladder. Smooth muscle
If the bicep muscle in our upper arms is contracted, the tricep muscle behind it is? Relaxed; they are opposites of each other
What is the name of the muscle located in our upper thigh on the front of our bodies? Quadriceps
What is the name of the muscle behind our quadriceps in our upper thighs? Hamstrings
What muscle is located on the back of our lower legs that controls our heel movement and is attached to the Achilles tendon? Calf muscle
What muscle is found in our stomach area that helps support our posture? Abdomen (abs)
What muscles is located on our rear end that is contracted when we sit in a chair or are working on squats in the gym? Gluteus Maximus
