| Pyloric Sphincter Valve | regulates the exit of partially digested food from the stomach to the intestines |
| Duodenum | first portion of the small intestine |
| Cloaca | the common receptacle for wastes of the rectum, the urinary wastes, and the sperm and eggs |
| Incomplete Double Circulation | oxygenated and deoxygenated blood gets mixed in the heart |
| Pericardium | thin membranous sac enclosing the heart |
| Ventricle | thick, muscular pumping structure of the heart |
| Truncus Arteriosis | large vessel that exits the anterior portion of the ventricle and carries blood to all parts of the body |
| Sinus Venosus | triangular sac that lies on the dorsal surface of the heart |
| Retroperitoneally | behind the transparent peritoneum |
| Mesorchium | membranous fold of peritoneum that attaches the testes to the dorsal body wall |
| vas efferentia | fine tubules embedded in the mesorchium that transport sperm from the testes to the kidneys |
| mesovarium | double layer of the peritoneum that suspends the ovaries from the dorsal wall |
| Central Nervous System | brain and spinal cord |
| Peripheral Nervous System | sense organs, cranial and spinal nerves, and their branches |
| Neurons | receive stimuli, interpret sensations, and transmit messages to and from the CNS |
| Olfactory Lobes | most anterior portions of the brain; receive impulses of smell from the nostrils |
| Cerebrum | directly posterior to the olfactory lobes; in charge of voluntary muscle control |
| Optic Lobes | posterior to the cerebrum; receive impulses from the eyes |
| Cerebellum | narrow band of tissue below the optic lobes; controls balance |
| Medulla Oblongata | enlarged, triangular-shaped tissue that forms the posterior portion of the brain; controls internal organs and involuntary muscle control |
