Glottis opening to the larynx and lungs
Eustachian Tubes openings that lead to the tympanum
Cutaneous Respiration occurs through the skin
Bucopharyngeal Respiration occurs through thin membranes lining the mouth and pharynx
Pulmonary Respiration occurs through the lungs
Visceral Peritoneum thin membrane that covers the internal organs
Parietal Peritoneum thin membrane that lines the inside of the body cavity
Mesentary double membranous structure that suspends the internal organs
Rugae folds on the internal wall of the stomach that aid in digestion
Pyloric Sphincter Valve regulates the exit of partially digested food from the stomach to the intestines
Duodenum first portion of the small intestine
Cloaca the common receptacle for wastes of the rectum, the urinary wastes, and the sperm and eggs
Incomplete Double Circulation oxygenated and deoxygenated blood gets mixed in the heart
Pericardium thin membranous sac enclosing the heart
Ventricle thick, muscular pumping structure of the heart
Truncus Arteriosis large vessel that exits the anterior portion of the ventricle and carries blood to all parts of the body
Sinus Venosus triangular sac that lies on the dorsal surface of the heart
Retroperitoneally behind the transparent peritoneum
Mesorchium membranous fold of peritoneum that attaches the testes to the dorsal body wall
vas efferentia fine tubules embedded in the mesorchium that transport sperm from the testes to the kidneys
mesovarium double layer of the peritoneum that suspends the ovaries from the dorsal wall
Central Nervous System brain and spinal cord
Peripheral Nervous System sense organs, cranial and spinal nerves, and their branches
Neurons receive stimuli, interpret sensations, and transmit messages to and from the CNS
Olfactory Lobes most anterior portions of the brain; receive impulses of smell from the nostrils
Cerebrum directly posterior to the olfactory lobes; in charge of voluntary muscle control
Optic Lobes posterior to the cerebrum; receive impulses from the eyes
Cerebellum narrow band of tissue below the optic lobes; controls balance
Medulla Oblongata enlarged, triangular-shaped tissue that forms the posterior portion of the brain; controls internal organs and involuntary muscle control
