renal medulla inner layer of the kidney, contains the nephrons
renal vein vein that drain the kidney
renal artery arterie that arise from the descending aorta and feed blood to the kidneys
nephron the processing unit of the kidney, filtration, reabsorption and secretion happen here.
ureter tube of smooth muscle that carries urine to the bladder.
Bowmans Capsule Receives filtrate from the glomerulus- fluid is then filtered
Glomerulus structure that receives blood from the renal artery, extracts wastes from it.
Distal Tubule K, Na and Cl is reabsorbed into the blood in this tubule. Hormones control the amount of reabsorption.
Loop of Henle Water is reabsorbed in this area, the level of water retained in the blood is controlled by hormones.
Arterial Capillaries capillaries that deliver “dirty” blood to the nephron, substances pass from the blood to the kidney at this location
Venous Capillaries capillaries that drain cleaned blood from the kidney and return it to veins for return to the heart.
Collection Duct Creatinine and some drugs are secreted into the urine in this location. Cells in the collection duct complete this process. Finished urine leaves this structure.
Ureter tube that delivers urine from kidney to bladder
Bladder muscular sac that stores urine prior to elimination from the body.
