TermDefinition
Ecology the study of organisms and their interactions with their ecosystems.
Symbiosis a close relationship between two or more species.
Mutualism a relationship in which both species benefit.
Commensalism a relationship in which one organism benefits and the other is neither harmed nor helped.
Parasitism a relationship in which one organism benefits, but the other is harmed.
Predatorism a relationship where one organism kills and eats another organism.
Consumer/Producer A relationship in which an animal eats a plant or other producer.
Organism An individual organism.
Population A large group of organisms of the same species
Community Many kinds of organism living in a group together.
Ecosystem All of the biotic and abiotic factors interacting together.
Sun (Sol) The ultimate source of energy for all ecosystems.
Ten Only 10% of the energy is transferred from producer to consumer. This is called the rule of _________.
Niche An organism's role in its habitat.
Habitat An organism's ecosystems.
