| Term | Definition |

| Black Ice | Ice that cannot be seen on a road or because there is dirt within the ice |
| Aerosol | Microscopic particle in the atmosphere that includes dust, sulfates, organics, salt, pollutants, smoke, and others. |
| Air Parcel | A volume of warm air that rises through the atmosphere |
| Contour | A line depicting a constant value of a variable on a weather map |
| Climate | Average weather conditions |
| Cumulus | Vertically developing clouds with puffy lobes |
| Dewpoint temperature | The temperature at which air will become saturated if it is cooled at constant pressure with no change in moisture content. |
| Dry Line | A front with sharp moisture change but little temperature change |
| Inversion | To keep it simple, when altitude increases but temperature decreases |
| Lifted Index | A measure of atmospheric stability particularly at 500mb (milibars) |
