What is the function of the semicircular canal? Rotational motion
What is the function of the vestibular apparatus? Linear accomodation of gravity
Describe the function of the cochlea. Gives us the sensation of hearing.
Define vertigo. When the hair cells bend and you're not moving, dizziness occurs.
Define tinnitus. Hair cells in the cochlea causes ringing in the ears.
What is the Snellen chart used for? Chart to test vision at a distance.
What does 20/200 vision mean? What you see at 200 ft normal people see at 20 ft.
Describe two conditions associated with an abnormal shaped eye. Far sighted the eye is shorter than normal. Near sighted the eye is larger/longer than normal.
What is astigmatism? Misshapen cornea.
Define keratitis. Inflammation of the cornea caused by trauma.
Define stye. Inflamed/Infected tarsal gland.
Define photophobia. Fear of light caused by migraine or dilated eyes.
Define nystagamus or strabismus. Constant involuntary movement of the eye.
What is the most common type of blindness in the United States? Red/Green color blindness.
What is the etiology for color blindness? Problem with x chromosome.
Differ between serous and suppurative otitis media. Serous- fluid like, non-bacterial Suppurative- bacteral infection
What is meant by having tubes put in the ears? Eustachian tube is blocked so tubes are put in to equalize pressure so the eardrum can vibrate and give us normal hearing.
What does tubes in the ear prevent? Blocked Eustachian tubes and unequal pressure.
Define cerumen and its function. Ear wax, trap foreign objects.
Define prebycusis. Hearing loss due to aging.
Define motion sickness. Problems with semi circular canals or vestibular apparatus.
Describe the anatomy of the male reproductive system. Penis- sex organ Testis- sperm & testosterone Vas deferens- connects penis & testis Accessory glands- Prostate, seminal vessicles, bulbourethral gland
What does the testis produce? Sperm
Describe the connection between the hypothalamus and the testis. GnTh-RH is released by the hypothalamus to the anterior pituitary gland which produces GnTH that goes to the testis.

How many sperm in ejaculate? % makeup? 100,000,000 sperm 50% normal, 25% dead, 25% abnoraml
