| Term | Definition |

| Air mass | A large body of air that has the same temperature and humidity |
| Front | The boundary between different types of air masses |
| Cold front | Formed when a mass of cold air advances and pushes away warmer air |
| Warm front | A mass of warm air advances and pushes away colder air |
| Stationary front | Two air masses meet and neither moves out of the way |
| Barometer | The instrument used to measure air pressure |
| High pressure | Created when colder falling air pushes DOWN on the earth |
| Low pressure | Created when warm air rises and DOESNT push down as hard on the earth |
| Isobar | Lines drawn on a weather map to connect areas of the same pressure |
| Isotherm | Colored areas (or lines) on a weather map connecting areas of the same temperature |
| Humidity | How much water vapor the air can hold at a specific temperature |
| Fair weather | The kind of weather usually brought by cooler temperatures and a rising barometer |
| Warm air | The type of air that can hold the most water vapor |
| Low pressure pt2 | The direction air usually moves towards from higher pressure |
