What is G1? Gap 1 - the normal cell processes; growth and protein synthesis
What is S? Synthesis - chromosomes make copies
What is G2? Gap 2 - cell that plants need for cell division are produced
Centrioles move to the opposite sides of the cell in what phase? prophase
The nuclear membrane disappears in what phase? prophase
In what phase does the cell prepare to divide and asters and spindle fibers form? prophase
Why can't a cell continue to grow bigger? The demand for materials increase faster than surface area, therefore, cell would be starved or be poisoned
What are the reasons for cell division? replaces old blood cells (mitosis); growth (mitosis) and produces sperm and egg (meiosis)
What is mitosis? the cell division that results in 2 new cells that are identical to the parent cells
What is PMAT? refers to the division of the nucleus; makes body cells
