Music Ingredients

What are the ingredients present in all the music we listen to?

TermDefinition
Pitch The vibration of air that makes this high or low.
Melody A bunch of pitches that stand out. You can go home humming this.
Harmony Two or more notes played together at the same time. We use the word consonant to describe it when it is pleasing and dissonant when it is not.
Texture Combined effect of few or many instruments playing together. We use thick or thin to describe it.
Beat Steady pulse of music
Tempo How fast or slow music is
Meter Grouping of beats often in 2's, 3's, and 4's
Timbre Uses adjectives to describe the tone quality of a voice or instrument
Dynamics How loud or soft music is
