Ice sheets, Valley Glaciers
| Term | Definition |

| Barchan Dunes | Shaped like a crescent with its tip pointing downward. |
| Parabolic Dunes | Shaped like a crescent with the tips pointing into the wind; often form along the coast. |
| Longitudinal Dunes | Long ridges of sand; parallel to the wind |
| Transverse Dunes | Series of long ridges at right angles to the wind. |
| Ventifact | Cobble or pebble polished by wind. |
| Loess | Deposits of windblown silt lacking visible layers. |
| Plucking | A piece of bedrock is lifted out of place by a glacier. |
| Cross-bedding | Thin layers are at a right angle to original bedrock |
| Desert Pavement | Layer of coarse pebbles and gravel when all fine sediment has been blown away. |
| Abrasion | Grinding and scraping of rock surface by the wind, water, or ice. |
| Deflation | Lifting and removing of loose material by the wind. |
| Star Dunes | Isolated hills of sand with wind coming in all directions |
