Barchan Dunes Shaped like a crescent with its tip pointing downward.
Parabolic Dunes Shaped like a crescent with the tips pointing into the wind; often form along the coast.
Longitudinal Dunes Long ridges of sand; parallel to the wind
Transverse Dunes Series of long ridges at right angles to the wind.
Ventifact Cobble or pebble polished by wind.
Loess Deposits of windblown silt lacking visible layers.
Plucking A piece of bedrock is lifted out of place by a glacier.
Cross-bedding Thin layers are at a right angle to original bedrock
Desert Pavement Layer of coarse pebbles and gravel when all fine sediment has been blown away.
Abrasion Grinding and scraping of rock surface by the wind, water, or ice.
Deflation Lifting and removing of loose material by the wind.
Star Dunes Isolated hills of sand with wind coming in all directions
