What is volume? the amount of space an object fills
What is mass? the amount of matter in an object
What is matter? matter is anything that has mass and volume
What is weight? how strongly gravity pulls on an object
What are the 3 states of matter? solid, liquid and gas
What is melting point? the temperature that a solid changes to a liquid
What is freezing point? the temperature that a liquid changes to a solid
What is boiling point? the temperature that a liquid changes to a gas
What is evaporation? when the atoms on the surface of a liquid become a gas
What is sublimation? when a solid changes to a gas (dry ice)
What is density? the thickness of an object
What is a phase change? when a substance changes from one state of matter to another
What are two ways liquid can turn into gas? evaporation and boiling
What is density determined by? how tightly packed the object's atoms are
Which state of matter is the least dense? gas
Which state of matter is the most dense? solid
Which state of matter is less dense than solids, but more dense than gas? liquid
What is it called when gas changes back into a liquid? condensation
In one lifetime, how much saliva will your mouth produce? enough to fill TWO swimming pools
