What are the auroras and where are they found? auroras are the northern lights or the reasons that the northern lights happen and they are found in the northern hemisphere.

Describe jet streams. Winds that never stop and they go all the way around the world at high speeds
What is the greenhouse effect? When greenhouse gases are trapped in atmosphere causing global warming.
Explain the 3 ways that heat is transferred. conduction through touching, radiation from heat in the air, and convection from the moving of heat
What does the Coriolis Effect make the winds do? it makes them flow in different directions on each hemisphere
Describe the doldrums. a calm area of winds that always blow
What is the ozone layer? Where is it found? it is the layer of the atmosphere that protects us from harmful rays from the sun
Describe the thermosphere. the warmest layer of the atmosphere
What is the most common atmospheric gas? Nitrogen
What parts of the earth cools off faster and heats up faster? What does this unequal heating create? the holes in the ozone make the entire earth heat up faster and this is called global warming
What is smog? smoke and pollution going up into the atmosphere mixing with the atmospheric gasses such as water vapor and becoming smog
Describe the movement of convection currents. the rising and falling in a circular direction
What is significant about the troposphere? It has the right temperature for life and its 90% of the atmosphere
What kind of ways have humans created air pollution? exhaust burning fossil fuels and many more ways of pollution
What is another name for the distance above sea level? altitude
What are global winds? winds that blow year round and are very powerful and they blow all over the globe
What does the name of a wind tell you? where it comes from
How much of the sun’s energy actually reaches the Earth? 30%
Which calm area is located around 30 degrees north and south latitude? horse latitudes
. List the 3 global winds and the 2 calm areas. doldrums, horse latitudes, and westerlies, easterlies, trade winds
What is global warming? the warming of the earth due to holes in our atmosphere
. If air mass increases what happens to density? it also increases
What type of winds blow over short distances? local winds
How are all winds created? the rotating of Earth
