What is the ozone layer? Where is it found? the ozone layer is a layer of protective gases that block Earth from harmful rays from the sun. Found in the atmosphere.
Describe jet streams. narrow belts of high speed winds.
What is the most common atmospheric gas? nitrogen.
What parts of the earth cools off faster and heats up faster? What does this unequal heating create? land cools and heats faster than water. Causes local winds.
What is smog? smog is fog and smoke.
Describe the movement of convection currents. rise and fall
Which instrument measures air pressure? barometer.
What is significant about the troposphere? where people live.
What kind of ways have humans created air pollution? exhaust, burning fossil fuels, etc.
What is another name for distance above sea level? altitude or elevation.
What does the name of a wind tell you? the direction they are going

What property are the layers of the atmosphere based on? pressure
Which calm area is found around 30 degrees north and south latitude? horse latitudes.
What is the atmosphere? mixture of gases that surrounds the earth.
List the three global winds and the 2 calm areas. global winds: Westerlies, Easterlies, Trade Winds. Calm: Doldrums, Horse Latitudes.
What is global warming? increase in average global temp.
If air mass increases what happens to density? decreases.
what type of wind blow over short distances?
How are all winds created? differences in air pressure.
