What does the Coriolis Effect make the winds do? The curving of winds due to earths rotation
Describe doldrums. A low pressure are around the equator
What is the ozone layer? where is it found? In the Stratosphere and protects us from harmful UV rays
Describe the thermosphere. Very hot. can reach up to 1000 degrees celcius
What is the most common atmospheric gas? Nitrogen
What parts of the earth cools off faster and heats up faster? What does this unusual heating create? land
What is smog? Smoke and fog created from exhaust and other human air pollutants
Describe the movement of convection currents? Cold air is below hot air
Which instrument measures air pressure? Barometer
What is so significant about the troposphere? Weather occurs
What kind of ways have humans created air pollution? Exhaust from cars and burning fossil fuels
What is another name for the distance above sea levels? Altitude
What are global winds? Commination of convection cells a every 30 degrees (long distance winds)
What does the name of wind tell you? Where they're coming from
How much of the suns energy actually reaches the earth? 2 billionths
What property of the layers of the atmosphere based on? Temperature
Which calm area is located around 30 degrees north and south latitudes? Horse latitudes
What is the atmosphere? A mixture of gasses that surround the earth
List the three kinds of global winds. Polar Easterlies, westerlies, and Trade winds
What is global warming? The above average temperature around the globe
If air increases what happens to density? Density decreases
What type of wind blows over short distances? Local winds
How are winds created? differences in air pressure
