What is the ocean shore zone? where the ocean meets the land
What are beaches? Beaches are shorelines made of sand
What are barrier islands? Pieces of land surrounded by water on all sides
What is a Estuary? The area where the river and the ocean meet
What is an Inlet? The space filled with water between Barrier island
What is the purpose of a barrier island? To protect the mainland
How does water move? The three main ways water moves in the ocean are tides, currents, and waves
What are currents? A current is an on going movement of water
What are waves? The repeated movement of water
What are the two parts of a wave? A crest and trough
What is ocean sediment? Weathered rock and shell carried by water
What are estuaries made of? Fresh water and salt water
