What is an ocean shore zone? The area where land meets the sea
What are barrier islands? take the main impact of the storm and protect the mainland and is land surrounded by water
what are beaches? They are shorelines made of sand
What are salt marshes? They are found in estuaries and soak-up excess water during storms
What are inlets? Inlets are the water-filled areas between barrier islands
What are estuaries? They are rivers that meet the ocean
How does water move? Water moves by tides, currents, and waves
What are currents? Currents are an ongoing movement of ocean water
What are the parts of a wave? the crest and the trough
What are tides? The rise and fall of the ocean
How often do tides rise and fall? Tides rise and fall about twice a day
How are most ocean waves caused? Most waves are caused by wind
